Creating Safe and Supportive LGBTQ+ Spaces
This training will provide an overview of LGBT demographics, terminology, and key strategies for providing high quality services to LGBT clients and participants. After this training, participants will be able to define and understand sexual orientation, gender identity, and other aspects of diversity and identity, understand barriers for LGBT clients seeking services, and describe strategies and model policies to better engage and serve LGBT clients.

Avis Wright, MPH, CHES
Avis joined Fact Forward in May 2017 after serving as a Health Education Coordinator with the Gaston County Department of Health and Human Services. She is currently responsible for the development and implementation of a variety of educational strategies that meet the identified needs of Fact Forward target markets and partners. Avis also coordinates and oversees content for our annual conference, Summer Institute. Avis graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. Her path to public health began while volunteering with health promotion nonprofit agencies. She continued her academic studies at Walden University where she obtained a Master of Public Health degree. Her interests include philanthropy, sexual health, and health education.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made no later than 72 hours before the date of the training. No-shows forfeit registration costs.
Inclement Weather Policy: Fact Forward follows the City of Columbia for weather closings. We monitor and adjust as necessary. We make all efforts to connect with registrants via email to advise of office closing and delayed starts. In case of cancellation of training due to weather, we will refund registration fees and make all efforts to reschedule in a timely manner.
