Youth Leadership Council FAQ
The Youth Leadership Council is a group of dynamic youth who will have an opportunity to share ideas, give opinions and lead initiatives in South Carolina/North Carolina to support adolescent reproductive health efforts.
Fact Forward believes that youth and young adults’ voices should be at the center of everything that we do. We respect all youth and young adults and who they hope to be. As a member of the YLC, you will serve as a voice and a sounding board for Fact Forward and other organizations to support adolescent reproductive health efforts.
Are you between the ages of 15-21?
Do you reside in North Carolina or in Barnwell, Darlington or Richland county of South Carolina?
Do you have an interest in adolescent reproductive health or education and want to make an impact in your community?
Yes? You qualify!
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
Yes! Only a limited number of applicants will be accepted to participate as a YLC member during each enrollment period. Approximately 12 students from each state will be accepted to participate.
Each application will be reviewed to determine acceptance to the YLC. The 12 applicants from each state that demonstrate the most promise to become active, dedicated, motivated participants will be selected.
The YLC will meet virtually 7 times with a holiday and new year check-in. Meetings will serve to educate the YLC about adolescent reproductive health education and services, and to provide the YLC a structure to create peer-to-peer dialogue to increase awareness and knowledge of adolescent reproductive health. We ask that YLC members actively attend and participate in meetings, and maintain communication via follow-up email/text.
YLC members will have the opportunity to develop their leadership, team process and project management skills, enhance their communication abilities, and deepen their knowledge of adolescent reproductive health. Participation can be referenced in college and job applications. YLC members will also receive up to $500 in e-gift cards and additional incentives throughout their service.
