Project Description
Fact Forward and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control is accepting Letters of Intent for the 2022-2024 State Personal Responsibility Education program. The purpose of this funding is to enable communities to replicate effective strategies that delay sexual activity, increase condom or contraception use for sexually active youth, and reduce the number of partners or reduce pregnancy among youth. There are two funding options.
- Option A: Program Implementation

Ideal applicants will:
- Have a documented history of working with adolescents under 21.
- Be willing to create and lead community mobilization efforts, OR
- Be willing to participate in an existing community group and address adolescent reproductive health.
- Be willing to be innovative and explore non-traditional strategies of reaching adolscents.
- Commited to positive youth development, inclusive, and trauma-informed best practices.
- Commit to replicating at least one of the following programs with a minimum of 150 youth
- Rights. Respect. Responsibility.
- Girls Circle
- The Council
- Seventeen Days
- Making a Difference
- Making Proud Choices
- Option B: Youth Development

Ideal applicants will:
- Have a documented history of working with adolescents under 21.
- Be willing to be innovative and explore non-traditional strategies of reaching adolescents.
- Commited to positive youth development, inclusive, youth-adult partnership, and trauma-informed best practices.
- Commit to convening a group of 10-15 adolescents in their service area to participate in Adolescent Health Youth Advisory Council.
- Commit to incorporating at least three of the following Adult PREP Topics:
- Financial Literacy
- Parent-Child Communication
- Healthy Relationships
- Healthy Life Skill
- Educational and Career Services
- Adolescent Development
Letters of Intent must outline how resources will be used to serve historically under-resourced and marginalized populations. These include but are not limited to youth in foster care, LGBTQ+ youth, BIPOC youth, homeless youth, victims of human trafficking, pregnant and/or parenting youth under the age of 21, and youth residing in areas of South Carolina with high birth rates. Your Letter of Intent will be reviewed carefully. If your organization is a good match, you will be invited to submit a full application.
Things to consider before you submit:
- This is a two-year reimbursement grant.
- Implementation Partner award ceiling is $80,000/yr. Expectant number of awards: 5
- Youth Development award ceiling: $25,000/yr. Expectant number of awards. 1
