Understanding Cultural Consciousness for the Sexuality Professional

July 30, 2020 | 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Bias is something that everyone carries with them-- a result of our socialization process from the time we are born. We are often able to challenge our own biases if we can first recognize it-- thus being mindful on managing bias. Participants will learn about the concept of implicit bias, understand how it operates, and examine their own biases confidentially. CEUs unavailable for this webinar.

Objectives:

  • Define implicit bias, cultural humility, cultural consciousness, microaggression, and the cycle of socialization
  • Provide two examples illustrating the connection between socialization and implicit bias
  • Identify at least two ways you will implement cultural humility in your professional work and lives
