Building Teen-Friendly Health Services: Creating Welcoming Spaces for Adolescents

This interactive workshop equips public health clinic professionals with practical strategies to create adolescent-friendly clinic environments. Participants will explore the core elements of teen-friendly health services, identify opportunities to improve access and comfort for young patients, and discover resources that support implementation. By the end of the session, attendees will leave with actionable ideas to enhance their own interactions and better serve adolescent populations.
Course Goal- To strengthen the capacity of healthcare professionals to design and deliver teen-friendly health services that foster trust, accessibility, and positive health outcomes for adolescents.
Learning Objectives- By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
  1. Describe the key characteristics of a teen-friendly healthcare environment.
  2. Identify barriers that prevent adolescents from accessing care and strategies to address them.
  3. Recognize current resources and tools available to support teen-friendly practices.
  4. Apply practical approaches for creating welcoming and inclusive spaces for adolescents within their own clinics.
  5. Develop an action plan to integrate at least one teen-friendly practice into their organizational setting.
